Acts Chapter 20 Star Chart: Paul's confrontation before Gallio (Acts 18:11-12) happened in the summer of 51 A.D. After a short period of time Paul returned to Antioch, in the fall of 51 A.D. After allowing winter to pass, Paul started his 3rd Missionary Journey (Acts 18-21) in spring of 52 A.D. Paul's journey brought him to Ephesus where he stayed for 2 years and 3 months. This brings us to summer of 54 A.D. Paul then passed through Macedonia in the fall and arrived in Greece where he spent 3 months (Acts 20:3). This would have been mid-winter A.D. 54/55. Returning through Macedonia during the spring (Acts 20:3), he sailed from Phillipi shortly after April (Acts 20:6). He arrived in Jerusalem in May/June A.D. 55, prior to Pentecost. Paul was arrested in Jerusalem in the summer of A.D. 55 and taken to Caesarea where he was confined for 2 years (Acts 24:27). This brings us to summer of A.D. 57. At that point, Paul left by ship for Rome (Acts 27:1-2). Luke says it was very slow going (Acts 27:7). They arrived eventually at Fair Havens on Crete, where they stayed until after the "fast" (i.e. Yom Kippur on 10 Tishri) was past. This would have been after Sept., of that year -- A.D. 57. They then set sail and were shipwrecked at Malta 14 days later, which would be in late October (Acts 27:27; 18:1). They stayed for 3 months (A.D. 57/58, Acts 28:11). In Feb. of A.D. 58, they set sail for Rome and arrived at Rome in the spring of 58 A.D. Paul remained in custody for 2 more years (Acts 28:30) which brings us up to 60 A.D. Paul was apparently freed shortly after this time as he predicted in Phil. 1:25. References to this time in 1 Clement 5 and the Muratorian Fragment make it probable that he visited Spain. This is also the most likely time for the writing of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus (as well as Hebrews if, indeed he wrote that book). He then returned to Rome, where he was martyred in the summer of 64 A.D., in connection with the persecution instituted by Nero (2 Tim. 4:6).

Paul Celebrated
the Days of Unleavened Bread & Pentecost

20:1 And after the uproar was ceased, (Orion) Paul called unto him the (Gemini & Auriga) disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them (Gemini) much exhortation, he (Argo) came into (lunar) Greece,

3 And there abode three months. (90° till Centaur) And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to (Argo) sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater (Bootes) of (lunar) Berea; and of the (lunar) Thessalonians, Aristarchus (Ophiuchus) and Secundus (Hercules); and Gaius (Sagittarius) of (lunar) Derbe, and Timotheus (Aquarius); and of (lunar) Asia, Tychicus (Perseus) and Trophimus (Auriga).

5 These going before tarried for us at (lunar) Troas.

6 And we (Argo) sailed away from (lunar) Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to (lunar) Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to (red radius) break (lunar) bread, Paul (red radius) preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight (black zodiac).

8 And there were many (lunar) lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

9 And there sat in a (lunar gibbous) window a certain young man named (Aquarius) Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken (lunar) bread, and (red radius) eaten, and (red radius) talked a long while, even till (sun on red radius horizon) break of day, so he departed.

12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 And we went before to (Argo) ship, and sailed unto (lunar) Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

14 And when he met with us at (lunar) Assos, we took him in, and came to (lunar) Mitylene.

15 And we (Argo) sailed thence, and came the next day over against (lunar) Chios; and the next day we arrived at (lunar) Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to (lunar) Miletus.

16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at (solar) Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 And from (lunar) Miletus he (red radius) sent to Ephesus, and called the (Gemini) elders of the church.

18 And when they were come to him, he (red radius) said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

19 Serving the (Cepheus) Lord with all humility of mind, and with many (glistening stars rotating down cheeks) tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the (Gemini) Jews:

20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from (red radius) house to (red radius) house,

21 Testifying both to the (Gemini) Jews, and also to the (Ophiuchus & Hercules) Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 And now, behold, I go (red radius) bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Save that the Holy Ghost (Spirit) witnesseth in every (lunar) city, saying that (lunar crescent) bonds and (red radius) afflictions abide me.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with (lunar smiling) joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to (red radius) testify the gospel of the grace of God.

"The man, in conscious virtue bold,
Who dares his secret purpose hold,
Unshaken hears the crowd's tumultuous cries,
And the impetuous tyrant's angry brow defies.
Let the wild winds that rule the seas
Tempestuous , all their horrors raise;
Let Jove's dread arm with thunders rend the spheres,
Beneath the crush of worlds undaunted he appears."
(Hor. 3 carm. 3)

25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone (red radius) preaching the kingdom of God, shall (lunar eyeballs) see my face no more.

26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the (red radius) blood of all men (Ezekiel 33).

27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (Ezekiel 33).

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the (Aries) flock, over the which the Holy Ghost (Spirit) hath made you (lunar eyeballs) overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own (red radius) blood.

29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves (Victim, Canis Major & Minor) enter in among you, not sparing the (Aries) flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall (Gemini) men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away (Auriga & Orion) disciples after them.

31 Therefore (lunar eyeballs) watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one (lunar) night and (solar) day with (glistening star tear drops rotating around) tears.

32 And now, (Gemini) brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

33 I have coveted no man's (lunar) silver, or (solar) gold, or (lunar white) apparel.

34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these (lunar) hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

"It is more the province of virtue to benefit than to be benefitted." (Aristotle Eth.4:1)

36 And when he had thus spoken, he (Argo) kneeled down, and (red radius) prayed with them all.

37 And they all (glistening star tear drops rotating down) wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and (red radius) kissed him,

38 Sorrowing most of all for the (red radius) words which he spake, that they should (lunar eyeballs) see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the (Argo) ship.
